Qualifications:
- You must have tertiary qualifications in Law, top academic credentials, and be admitted as a solicitor in a common law jurisdiction.
- You must be able to work independently under tight deadlines, be organised and have excellent interpersonal skills.
- Strong research and writing skills, and a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a non-legal audience, are required.
- Law firm experience with clients in the financial services or technology sectors preferred.
- Experience working in Asia and Asian language skills are highly desirable.
Responsibilities:
The Legal Counsel role will sit within a team of four lawyers in IMC’s Sydney office and will work closely with domestic and international business partners and colleagues to support to IMC’s market marking activities in the Asia Pacific region. The APAC Legal Team is part of IMC’s growing global legal team across IMC’s Sydney, Amsterdam and Chicago offices.
The successful candidate will report directly to the General Counsel, APAC and assist in providing legal advice and meeting the company secretarial needs of IMC in the Asia Pacific region. You will work closely with the Technology and Trading teams together with HR, Corporate Development and our Risk & Compliance teams to drive IMC’s business throughout the region.
- Draft, negotiate, and review commercial contracts across technology, trading, employment, entertainment and other business arrangements.
- Advise on potential contractual and other risks and propose risk mitigation strategies.
- Research and provide advice on various emerging legal and regulatory issues including financial services, technology, IP, data privacy and employment laws.
- Review existing policies and procedures of IMC, identify areas for continuous improvement; formulate and draft policies and procedures, as required.
- Assist with corporate governance, including preparing for Board meetings of IMC’s corporate and charitable organisations in the APAC region.
