Qualifications:
- LL. B with 6-10 years of experience in financial markets and regulatory compliance
- Demonstrable knowledge of and expertise with Regulatory Financial Law (most notably SEBI and NSE) and Contract Law. Knowledge of labour and privacy law is a plus
- Broad interest in trading & technology and market structures;
- Basic knowledge of proprietary trading/market making is preferred;
- Structured and pragmatic in problem solving and to the point in communication;
- Responsible self-starting professional with excellent analytical skills and drive for results;
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills in English
- Excellent contract drafting skills
Responsibilities:
The Legal Counsel is responsible for ensuring that the organization’s operations are conducted in compliance with legal requirements, company policies and ethical business practices. The Legal Counsel acts as a business partner; provides legal support and advices across various departments and IMC entities.
- Advising Trading, Technology and Business Support on financial laws and regulations as well as exchange rulebooks;
- Responding to inquiries made by exchanges or regulators;
- Collaborating with local Compliance and other functions to ensure correct interpretation and implementation of laws and regulations;
- Collaborating with Legal & Compliance from other offices to design and enhance global standards (eg policies, training)
- Analyzing regulatory developments that have an impact on the markets and the products that we trade and IMC as a whole to identify both risks and opportunities;
- Advise new business project teams on regulatory aspects, working closely with the teams at other IMC offices
- Assist with regulatory assessments and regulatory audits;
- Represent IMC towards exchanges, regulators and industry associations
- Negotiating and drafting of contracts and agreements
