Responsibilities:
- Create, manage and protect portfolios of intellectual property (IP) rights, including trade marks, copyright and designs
- Assist in providing strategic advice to clients about their IP requirements, including national and international filings and prosecution
- Research new trade marks and advise on availability by carrying out national and international searches to see if the proposed trade mark is already in use
- Oversee international trademark filings and registrations and coordinate with international counsel where required
- Monitor and meet key prosecution deadlines
- Create and manage oppositions to trademark registration and advise on conflicting applications
- Negotiate in trade mark disputes and take action on trade mark infringement and passing off matters
- Advise on, draft, review and negotiate IP licensing and assignment agreements
- Should have an excellent understanding of the common law system of trademark laws, Indian Trademark laws, and a working understanding of laws in other countries.
