Role:
Sr. Paralegal, IP Litigation
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of relevant experience managing litigation matters
- Bachelor’s degree and/or paralegal certification preferred or equivalent experience and evidence of exceptional ability
- In-house and/or top-tier law firm experience preferred; experience with/exposure to insurance defense helpful
- Understanding of litigation motion practice, discovery, arbitration, trial, and appellate procedures
- Understanding of patent-related procedures, including IPRs and PGRs
- Strong organizational, analytical, fact-finding, and negotiation skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to format documents and generate TOC and TOA helpful
- Demonstrated ability to manage a high volume of matters, work efficiently and proactively, take initiative, prioritize workflow, meet demanding deadlines, and oversee multi-dimensional projects in a fast-paced environment
- Strong work ethic with a goal-oriented focus as well as flexibility to take on new areas of responsibilities
Responsibilities:
- Full understanding of litigation motion practice, discovery, trial and appellate procedures; ability to administratively manage all phases of an IP litigation case
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments under tight deadlines
- Ensure expertise in technology relevant to the position; proactively use most current technology to further teamwork and efficiencies
- Assist with the factual development and analysis of cases, including communication with relevant business partners to establish the facts of the case
- Manage the discovery process, including the collection, retention, and production of documents, drafting written responses to discovery, and setting up and maintaining document review platforms. Experience with eDiscovery software including Relativity, Logikcull, Case Notebook, Trial Director and Adobe Professional a plus
- Trial preparation and attendance in both jury and non-jury trials; preparation and set-up for Markman hearings
- Prepare deposition notices and subpoenas; organize, maintain, and prepare deposition materials, exhibits, summaries; track depositions
- Thorough understanding of court rules and filing requirements; bluebook, cite check and proofread briefs
- Experience gathering patent documents from the USPTO databases and researching technical references
